Perfect Pink Polish

Polish used:
O.P.I. - If You Moust You Moust

I received this polish for Christmas in an O.P.I. mini pack from the Minnie Mouse collection and this polish is my PERFECT pink polish!! It is pigmented enough to just have one coat applied (although I have two coats here). It is high shine, in this picture I have not used any form of top coat. My favourite part? I wore this polish to work yesterday and it did not chip (very rare, I'm so hard on my nails!)!!! In love!!!

Just wanted to share :) This polish also comes in the 15ml large bottle :)

Essie - Forever Young
BYS - Nail Art Lacquer: 001 White

China Glaze - Fast Forward Top Coat
(Woah what a list!!!!!! Well this was two days in the making!!!!)

Bah! Humbug!! - apart from quoting Mr. Dickens' BEST WORK you will never ever ever EVER find me saying this!! I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!! Christmas is my favourite time of the year and I think I get more excited every year!! :) Even just getting this beautiful Christmas tree ornament on the weekend form my eldest Sister-In-Law got me excited!!! I can't wait to pop it on my tree!!! My S-I-L also has an amazing crafty blog and she has helped me get mine sorted (she created my blog banner, I know! How amazing is that?!?). Her blog is this: http://polkadotparasoldesigns.blogspot.com.au/

Back to nail art! See how Christmas is distracting?!? I love it!! So for this look I started off with not my usual nail strengthener then followed with one coat of a beige-y nude polish. I then focused purely on my red nosed friend. I mixed a deep brown with white and nude to get a lighter brown (yes you can mix nail polishes!! I know!! How cool!! I do it in an old silicone muffin pan [When the polish dries it just pops out]). I used this lighter brown to create the face with a teeny tiny paint brush I picked up from the local craft shop (seriously it's teeny!!!). I then used it again to create my antlers but using the pure brown polish this time. I then used the polish from my nail art lacquers and a tiny dotting tool to do the eyes. Now the fun part! I mixed a basic red with a very shimmery pink pigment to create a shimmery red to do the magic nose!!! I liked the polish so much that I decided I needed another feature nail! :) I then used many different sized dotting tools to create my snow! I then sealed it allllllllll off with a high shine top coat and voilà!!

If you want to have a red nosed friend too you can follow this easy-peasy nail art tutorial that yours truly also followed: http://blanketprint.tumblr.com/post/14638495670/colors-a-taupe-the-space-needle-opi-get-in-then

(Yeah no idea how to do those clever link-y things!!)

Util next time my fellow Christmas lover!!

Dots Rock!

Polish Used -
Essie - Natural Nail Strengthener
O.P.I. - Magic
Models Prefer - Platinum
Essie - Matte About You

I had always found it hard to do different sized dots especially really big ones and teeny tiny ones with my dotting tool. When browsing on Ebay one night I found heaps of different dotting tools that were all different sizes so I had to buy!!

To get this look I started off with a nail strengthener like normal then added two coats of the blue and the silver on the accent nails. I then used the biggest dotting tool to create large dots of the opposite colour. I then finished it off with a matte top coat!

This kind of reminds me of a Daleks armour... hehe

I GLOW IN THE DARK!!

Polish Used:
Essie - Natural Nail Strengthener
Models Prefer - Platinum
Pe - 08 (Glow in the dark clear coat)

I love ebay! I love all the cute little thinks you can't find in stores, I love all the bargains you can find and I love all the nail products I have never seen before. So when I saw this glow in the dark top coat I was a tiny with sceptical  I didn't really believe that it would work and I wouldn't go as far to say it was the bees knees but it's still pretty amazing - I glow now!! :) So I bought this polish off ebay from a seller called "ddl2012" from China (free shipping of course!). Their ebay page: http://myworld.ebay.com.au/ddl2012/?_trksid=p4340.l2559

This look is pretty straight forward: base coat, silver polish then the glow in the dark to coat! Even the bottle glows in the dark!!

But I need your help - I am presuming the writing on the bottle is Chinese because it come from china, so can you read Chinese? Can you help me uncover what is written on this bottle? I would really love to know!!!

If you do know what it says (even just one word) can you please comment below or let me know on my new FB page: https://www.facebook.com/weezyxx Thanks a million in advance!!!

Until next time,

Eiffel In Love With Paris

Polish Used:
Essie - Natural Nail Strengthener
Ulta3 - Pink Surpreme
BYS - Black (Nail Art Lacquer)
Half Pearls and diamantés
China Glaze - Fast Forward Top Coat

Who doesn't love a bit of Paris? A friend of mine, Taryn, definitely does! So do I for that matter but I haven't been as lucky as her to actually visit the city of love. I jumped at the chance to do such a mani on her and we both love the results! :)

For this look I started off with a base coat and a full coat of a lightly metallic pink. when this was completely dry I painted on a Eiffel Tower with a striper brush and added diamantés and half pearls randomly to her accent nails. I sealed it off with a high shine top coat.

Taryn has her own blog too - http://hrhfashion.blogspot.com.au/

People Never Change

Polish Used:
Essie - Natural Nail Strengthener
OPI - I Think In Pink
BYS - Black (Nail Art Lacquer)
Half pearls, diamantés and Fimo flowers
The Beauty Case - Brush-on Nail Glue
Sally Hansen - Instant Nail Hardener

So two things in my life I don't think will ever change - My religious views and my love of everything girly, sparkly and glittery. So I combined them both in a mani!

For this look I started off with a base coat and then a wash of a light girly pink. After this was completely dry I then drew on my cross using a striper brush on my thumbs and added some flowers, diamantés and pearls randomly on my accent nails. I sealed all my nails with a nail hardener and applied an extra thick coat over my additions on my accent nails.

Glue Base Review

So in my 'Glitter Bomb' post last week I was trialling the glue base technique (use a thin layer of glue instead of a base coast to get glitter nail polish off quickly). AND IT WORKED!!! Glitter nail polish wearers rejoice!!! Everything it was meant to do - it did!! This one in the picture above just popped off all in one go! Some came off in two goes but they still came off super quickly! I just picked them off, I didn't even use a tool which was suggested, so easy. :)

Only issue - I freaked out when I first took them off because my nails were YELLOW!! I was freaking out big time! Then I touched them and they didn't feel like my nails so I grabbed some nail polish remover and gave them a wipe and soon realised it was just some left over glue... crisis averted!! Will definitely be using this technique again!

Another plus - My nails felt stronger and harder while wearing this polish, like I had acrylics. I don't know if it was the base or the polish but either way they were nice and strong.

Pretty Purple Polish

Polish Used:
Essie - Natural Nail Strengthener
Sportsgirl - Rock Royalty
OPI - Significant Other Color
Essie - Matte About You

I was looking through my polishes and realised that I hardly ever use one colour in particular even though it is extremely pretty (OPI - Significant Other Color). So I wanted to do a look that used this polish!

For this look I used my base coat like normal then I applied a wash of a bright metallic purple. After this was completely dry I added a thin coat of S.O.C. (It's more holo in person with a tint of green). Then using the first purple again I painted a little swirl using a striper brush. After all layers were dry I added a matte top coat.

Glitter Bomb!

Polish Used -
Glue base coat - used Elmers - School Glue
Essence - Rebel Delight
Australis - Fairy Bread
Australis - Speck-tacular

Two things came to me at the same time. The first was a glue base coat technique that I found on Pinterest. This is just a light coat of any washable glue under any glitter polish for easy removal (Read as - no more time rubbing and rubbing and getting frustrated when it takes an age to get glitter nail polish off! Just Peel off!!). I am super keen to give this a try!! The second was a polish I have been searching for for months (Australis - Fairy Bread) a really glittery polish that looks super fun. So I combined the two together!

For this look I started off with a wash of Elmers glue, when this was dry I followed with a wash of a nude polish. I then applied coats of Fairy Bread finishing off with a top coat with holo flakes embedded in it (Speck-tacular). Super fun and cute!! I am a sucker for anything glittery and anything that sparkles!!

I'm pretty sure (but don't quote me on this) that both Fairy Brad and Speck-tacular are limited editions. Very happy I was able to get my hands on them!! :)

Mad Man in a Box

Materials Used:
Essie - Natural Nail Strengthener
OPI - Mystery
Makeup Sponge
Ulta3 - Metal
Sally Hansen - Digital
Sportsgirl - Rock Royalty
BYS - Silver Moon
Acrylic Paints
China Glaze - Fast Forward Top Coat

It's no secret - I love Doctor Who!! So with the commencement of season seven airing every Saturday night ("Doctor Who Saturday") this mani was kind of inevitable... :)

For this look, I started off with a base coast and a wash of a really deep glittery purple. After this was dry I used a makeup sponge to lightly apply silver, pink and purple polishes to replicate the colours of a Nebula. I then coated this with a glittery silver polish on all nails except for thumbs. On my thumbs I then used acrylic paints to draw the Tardis. I sealed all my nails with a fast drying top coat.

I found it so much easier to work with the acrylic paints this time 'round, practice makes perfect I suppose.

Love Letters

Polish Used:
Essie - Natural Nail Strengthener
Essie - Below The Belt (White)
Essie - Forever Young (Red)
BYS - Black (Nail Art Lacquer)
China Glaze - Fast Forward Top Coat

Today marks five years that I have been with my man. He is the most understanding, patient, brave and funny man I have ever met AND he loves my nail art, what more could I ask for?!? So today I did my nails specially for us :)

For this look I started off with a base coat then a wash of white on all nails except for my accent nail which I painted red. I then used my dotting too to create little hearts and dots on my nails using the opposite colour to my nails. I then used my black striper to create a mini envelope and sealed it with another heart. I finished off with a fast drying top coat!

I think they are just too cute!!!

Power Up!!

Mediums Used:
Essie - Natural Nail Strengthener
Essie - Below The Belt
Acrylic Paints
Sally Hansen - Diamond Strength Instant Nail Hardener (as top coat)

This past week I stumbled across this picture:
I thought it was super cute and reminded me of spending hours and hours playing Super Mario Brothers with my brothers. It was a love/hate relationship between Mario and I; I loved playing, until I died... This week I had also read up on how some other nail artist use acrylic paints instead of nail polish (which I usually use). This was my first ever go at using acrylics on my nails and I'm not completely sold as of yet. Some times it was easier to handle than the polish but I think I will keep it for small areas and intricate details. As you probably noticed, some of the bigger sections it got a bit lumpy...

For this look I started off with a base coat and a wash of white nail polish. After this was completely dry I used my dotting tool and acrylic paints to create the power up mushies. When this was dry I sealed the paint with a top coat!

Until next time,

Drippy Nails

Polish Used:
Background - OPI - Mystery
Drips - OPI - Tapestry
Top Coat - Essence - Gel-look Top Coat

I LOVE PINTEREST! Seriously, I cannot get enough. I love all the handy hints, the recipes and of course that amazing range of nail art! Lately, I have seen a lot of this 'drippy' nail art, it seems like everyone is doing it! I thought it couldn't be too hard so I gave it a go.

For this look, I started off with a base of a really deep purple. When that was dry, I painted my tips using the second complimentary colour (French Mani style). I then put two dots of the second colour and joined them up to the tips with my dotting tool. After this was dry I applied my top coat.

Personally, I wish I chose my colours better because all I see when I look at my hands is drips of blood... Yuck!!

Until next time,
Weezy xx

P.s. - Totally excited about having my Doctor Who Saturday's back starting this weekend! Check out the cheeky Sonic Screwdriver in the photo! So nerdy! Hahaha!! :)

The luck of the Irish

Polish Used:
Base - Essie - Natural Nail Strengthener
Green - Ulta3 - Tahitian Lime
Top - China Glaze - Fast Forward Top Coat

After a long time waiting, my cousin Nicole had her baby! Finally!! When I got home after receiving the news  I went straight to my western and eastern zodiac books - they are enjoyable to read especially taken with a grain of salt. While I was reading I found out that our newest family members lucky colour is meant to be green, so I started searching for the brightest green I owned.

For this look, I started off with a clear base coat to protect and strengthen my nails. After this was dry, I began to create stripes using the green polish leaving little cut outs for a different effect. I finished up with a fast drying topcoat to seal the deal.

Until next time,

Thank God for little girls!

Polish Used:
Thumb -
Sally Hansen - Digital; Ulta3 - Pink Surpreme (Heart)

Pointer -
OPI - I Think In Pink; Sally Hansen - Twisted Pink (Heart)

Middle -
Sally Handen - Twisted Pink; OPI - I Think In Pink (Heart)

Ring -
Ulta3- Pink Surpreme; Sally Hansen - Digital (Heart)

Pinkie -
N.Y.C Color - Fruit Tingle; Sally Hansen - Bamboo Shoot

As I type, my amazing, strong, brave and courageous cousin Nicole is giving birth to a little baby girl. So I collected some of my pink polishes together to do a very pink, very girly nail look for our newest Princess.

For this look I simply painted a base of different pinks on my nails. Then, taking my dotting tool, I drew on the hearts (first go for ever doing hearts!!). Super simple stuff!

Until next time,

A rose by any other name...

Polish used:
  1. OPI - I Think In Pink
  1. BYS - Black (Nail Art Lacquer)
  1. China Glaze - Fast Forward Top Coat
Recently, I asked my friends on Facebook to help we decide on a name for this blog. One of my cousins, Renae, came up with this little gem. So to say thank you, my first nail art to feature on this blog is inspired by her. To be more precise, it is inspired by her stunning outfit that she wore to my brother's recent wedding. It was timeless, classy and completely eye-catchingly beautiful. Thanks Renae!!

For this look, I started off with a plain pink base and used a black striper to paint my tips (French Manicure style). After this was completely dry, I used my dotting tool to dot on the edge of the two colours to create a scalloped finish. And because I'm terrible at waiting I used my quick dry top coat to seal the deal.

Until next time,
Weezy xx
